Choose tile flooring for the stone look

Walk through our tile flooring showroom and see some fantastic stone-look tiles. They include designs like Kendall Slate by American Olean, Massa Marble by Lungarno Ceramics, or Crystal Stone ll (a mosaic look) by Marazzi.

You'll see many other creations by MSI, Shaw, and more.

How is this possible?

Thanks to Inkjet Technology, manufacturers can create true-to-life intricate patterns on either porcelain or ceramic tiles.

They include veining, color variations, and all the "imperfections" of a Mother Nature creation. While it looks like natural stone, it's much more affordable.

Ceramic or porcelain tiles?

Both are excellent choices, but your final decision will depend on your use. For example, porcelain is ideal for floors in busy, highly trafficked rooms like the kitchen.

Because of its construction, porcelain tile is heavier and denser, with a low absorbency rate. As a result, it's also suitable for outdoor use.

Porcelain is a large format tile with few grout lines. That gives it more of a look of a slab.

Porcelain tile flooring also comes in a "Color Body" version, where the glaze is closely matched to the bisque. That eliminates those unsightly white patches whenever there's a scratch or chip.

Ceramic tile, on the other hand

Ceramic tile is also tough, mainly when glazed. Just be sure you choose a floor tile with the correct strength level; the most commonly selected for indoor residential floors is Cat-3.

Cat-3 can also be used on counters, backsplashes, walls, and fireplace surrounds. Be sure to describe your project to the tile expert to be sure you get the right one for your project.
